Four Heathers Take RootThe Four Heathers evolved over a few years of visiting each others studios and exhibitions. Finding themselves on similar paths creatively and in their art careers, the idea and desire to connect through their different mediums and exhibiting together soon became a common desire between these artists. Each artist brings a distinct, mature signature to her work and as a result the experience, strength and connections they have felt has united them further. It is for this reason that they are launching their second exhibition together of new work. The first was a very successful show in July 2009 at the Seymour Art Gallery in North Vancouver. As our theme Take Root suggests, we propose to exhibit a compelling cross over where artists and ideas connect, veer to new paths and sometimes collide into each other in a rich parade of configurations. Heather Aston, Printmaker. Over the years as an artist Heather Aston has developed her own printmaking techniques to construct a richly coloured, energetic landscape. Heather Cairns, Potter, has a dynamically charged, gestural style. The dramatic hand work on her ceramic pieces are rendered in a with a broad brush and subtle colour. Heather Johnston, Photographer. blends photography, image manipulation and painting. Her current work, influenced by Vanita's paintings and her dreams takes a 21st century look at nature through depth, texture and meaning. Heather McAlpine, Painter. Heather's work is very much about layering and texture. She translates natural and organic forms to create stunning abstract paintings.
